Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) data capture plays a key role in assisting local authorities to meet their obligations contained within the Transport Act 2000 and TMA 2004, especially through the operation of bus lanes and box junctions.
To perform this role effectively, a CCTV system must provide high-quality images that are easy to manage and effective for use in evidence. The system must also enable operators to archive information efficiently.
Our Si-Dem parking ticket and notice processing software can be fully integrated into a combined CCTV system and video management capability. It delivers a complete contravention identification, processing and ticket issuing solution.
A digital response
Si-Dem interfaces with leading digital image capture and video management systems to provide a seamless digital solution that maximises operator productivity and accuracy.
Images of contraventions are recorded directly from CCTV into a digital recording unit. Operators are then able to play back and pause the video to capture the images that will be used on the PCN sent to the vehicle keeper.
A static image of the contravention and a compressed video of the contravention – all to e-Gov standard – can be added to the case. This evidence can then be made available to the driver to minimize speculative appeals. The use of dual-stream recording technology also eliminates the need for a second recording on removable media. This saves valuable storage and retrieval space, and significant administrative operations in retrieval and playback.
Fully CCTV integrated – delivering significant benefits
Because Si-Dem is a highly flexible application it can be fully integrated within the market’s CCTV leading digital image capture and video management software. And because all entries are driven from the main Si-Dem database, operator errors are minimized. Dropdown menus are populated by correct possible answers, so choosing a camera will only bring up roads that the chosen camera is able to see, and choosing a road will only bring up contraventions associated with that street.
Si-Dem’s flexibility also makes it easier to produce reports. Feedback is available in a variety of formats, including bar and pie charts.
Mobile CCTV options
Mobile CCTV is becoming an increasingly popular option. This is especially true where existing fixed cameras are not conveniently located, or cannot provide an appropriate image quality.
Mobile CCTV solutions include the use of relocatable units to monitor bus lanes and records contraventions. These capture key information including date, time and GPS location. This evidence is then encrypted, packaged and transmitted via wireless 3G or ADSL for review and subsequent transfer to Si-Dem. Units can be re-sited periodically to suit the monitoring agenda of the parking services team.
Other CCTV options allow operators of mobile enforcement vehicles to process and review video whilst on the road via a rugged laptop – with all contraventions synchronize into Si-Dem.
