The move towards online functionality in managing interactions between councils and drivers – not just for reviews, challenges and representations, but also for permit issuance – is gathering pace, with the news that the London Borough of Ealing is now seeing 54% of residents’ permits issued via its web-based facility.

“Residents are able to apply for their CPZ permit online through the borough’s website”, comments Dave Wearmouth.

“This is a straightforward process, and it’s even quicker and easier once a resident has a permit to renew. We’ve designed Ealing’s portal to be intuitive for the applicant, and because it’s fully integrated into Si-Dem, it means that online permit issuance can play an important role in cutting administrative costs."
