Caroline Avey - Expert on applying social media to learning

Caroline Avey works with Fortune 500 clients across a variety of industries to develop new ways of thinking about adult learning and knowledge sharing, employing such trends as virtual classrooms, mobile learning and social networking to develop, engage and retain top talent.

Avey’s current focus is developing strategies and practical applications of learning in 3D-virtual worlds and other social media technologies. She guides clients through a Web 2.0 strategy assessment to develop a plan for determining and deploying new instructional approaches and learning technologies. She has experience in a variety of media, including live experiential simulations, games, simulated learning via the Web, and both synchronous and asynchronous learning in virtual worlds.
 
She holds a B.A. from the University of Arizona and an M.B.A. with a finance specialty from the University of Denver.

Applying Social Media Technologies to Learning
Avey has been on the forefront of applying social media tools to corpo-rate learning, including designing, developing and facilitating learning for 3D virtual worlds. Her learning trials conducted with ACS clients in 3D platforms have been recognized as cutting edge by the industry. Her experience also extends to the use of blogs and wikis to facilitate learning discussions and in the design of distance delivery events for remote classroom delivery.

She is a featured speaker at Training Industry, Masie Learning, Virtual Worlds and Chief Learning Officer conferences for her work in social media strategic initiatives for ACS clients. Avey is also the recipient of the ACS Innovation award, recognizing her work in this area.
